Description

The Thoroughbred Racing Game was created by Dr. Victor Hasselblad in the late 1970s. It was originally titled Statis Pro Championship Racing and was distributed thru Midwest Research/Statis Pro Publishing for one year. The Game was renamed Thoroughbred Racing and distributed thru Tabletop Sports and currently thru ASG Games where it is still available for purchase.

The game is designed to give a maximum amount of realism, while emphasizing ease of play. A race can easily be run in 15 minutes, but the method of recording the moves gives a chart of the race that is as detailed as those in the Daily Racing Form. The basic rules are simple, and can be understood by anyone who has played any table top sports game.

The First Edition of the game utilized a 6x6 grid to determine horse speed results which was changed in the second edition to 2-12 die role results. The horse tracks remained the same.

ASG Games currently publishes a paper and computer version of the game.
