La Guerre du Bien Public, Monthléry 1465
Description
La guerre du Bien public 1465 (War of the Public Weal) is a historical simulation from March to December 1465. The Public Weal is lead by the King's of France brother, Charles Duke of Berry, but in reality the Count of Charolais (future Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy). The Weal comprises the Duchies of Armagnac, Bourbon, Britany, Burgundy and Lorraine. Opposing them, King Louis XI of France has a strong army but smaller allies such as the Duchies of Milano, Savoy and the County of Foix.
One player plays the role of the Public Weal and the other King Louis XI.
The objectives are to take control of the differents territories (with Paris as a very important one), win pitched battles or major sieges, and neutralise the opponent's allies.
This is both a strategic & tactical game with armies and garrisons evolving on the main strategic map and units fighting on a tactical map featuring a typical XVth century battleground.
Units are men-at-arms, pikes, bowmen, crossbowmen, and early cannons, from 2,000/1.750 men at full strength, 1,000/750 horsemen or 200 cannons of all calibers. The ambience of that period is added with tactical chits (charge, harassment shots, raining arrows, ditch, fence, pike hedgehog, cannon battery) and events such as rain, snow, minor ally, no fight or betrayal, no wing deployment.
