THE WATER released to the Martian surface will meet an extremely dry and cold environment, instantly freezing and forming glaciers. Water vapor will sublimate from the ice on warmer summer days, and soon fall back again as snow. This new environment is perfect for snow algae! Inside the ice and snow, they are protected from cold, dryness, and radiation, while creating their own micro-environment using heat from cellular reactions and increased light absorption when making the ice darker.

SNOW ALGAE spread slowly, but contribute at the same time to the biosphere, oxygen production, and heat trapping.

THIS PROMO CARD may be used together with Terraforming Mars. Simply shuffle one copy into the big project deck and hope that you'll be the one to take advantage of the Martian snow!
