Running Home
Description
You are the lone survivor of a failed interplanetary settlement attempt. Scavenge what you can to provide food, shelter and the fuel you’ll need to get off this planet and head to the next one...
Running Home is a card based, deep space survival game for one player. Each planet has its own difficulties, so use the resources you find wisely. Avoid storms, hostile aliens and wandering indigenous animals while finding shelter, gathering food, and locating elements to use as fuel to escape the planet. There are a few planets between you and your home world, so reserve your strength to ensure you survive the journey home!
Choose the number of planet cards you must survive (set difficulty level, more planets means you’re less likely to survive!) Draw that many Path Cards and place them face up in order drawn.
Shuffle Scavenge Deck. Draw three and flip (as you would in a game of solitaire) then interact with the card showing. Take food, fuel, or shelter from the new pile to add to your inventory, hoping not to reveal animals, aliens, or storms!
Animals, Aliens, and Storms will take Health Points (HP) away. You start with 20 HP and can avoid losing HP by sacrificing:
Food to distract Animals
Fuel to distract Aliens
Shelter to hide from Storms
If enough food and fuel have been found to leave the planet, clear remaining inventory and move on to the next one. Leave the last planet successfully and win!
