Le Cadran de Kaplan
Description
First you put 12 cards in a circle on the board and 6 cards in the middle. Cards are chosen in accordance with symbols on there backs. On the other side there is a letter or a space for cards on the circle, and a clue for cards in the middle. Letters will make a word 6 to 12 letters long. You don't know where the beginning and the end of the word are. You must find it as fast as possible. More than 400 current French words are available.
The most impressive in this game is that the game itself creates the word! All players can play together to find it, including the player who put the cards on the board in the first place.
Each player rolls 3 d12. The roll indicates which cards are available for auction. Players can put on a card a token face back (values of those tokens are from 1 to 9).
When 3 tokens are put on a card, the value of the token is shown. The player with the highest value can look at the card.
In a second part of the game some cards are shown to all the players. Winning auctions allows the player to look for a clue card.
When a player thinks they have discovered the word he/she writes it on a paper. At the end of the game, the word is revealed. Players win victory points in accordance with the earliest correct deduction.
