Boulder Bluff
Description
Boulder Bluff is a fast-paced card game in a bouldering (climbing) theme, where climbers enter in a one-day competition to win a free trip around the world!
On your turn, you can either 'Prep' which means taking an extra Move card or 'Climb' which means attempting to climb one of the three Bouldering routes that are revealed, by placing your Move cards face-down in front of you, with at least one revealed.
Each player joining the climb then draws a random token from the chalk bag, which ranges from -1 to +2, and adds this to the power to climb the route.
The player with the highest power wins the bouldering route, and everyone (including the winner) who didn't have at least the number displayed on the bouldering route now has to take an injury token. This injury token is -1 or -2 victory points at the end of the game (depeding on how you toss it).
But there's more! If you initiate a climb so confidently that nobody dares to join, you don't have to reveal your cards, and simply get the Boulder route without having to do anything! That's real Boulder Bluff right there..
Spice up your game by using 'pure colour' combos and using action cards at the correct time to maximize your power and hinder your opponents.
After the 15 bouldering routes have been climbed, the game is finished. The number on the bouldering route is the number of points you scored. Add up all your bouldering routes, minus your injuries, and the winner is the climber with the most points!
