Description
Our fair city is under attack by militant anarchists and their nefarious time bombs. In response the Police Commissioner has selected you, our most expendable officers, to form Precinct 9's first Bomb Squad.
But it's not just the bombs you'll have to contend with. There's also the new sniffer dog that keeps setting them off, not to mention your back-stabbing colleagues who are all out for personal glory at your expense. Meanwhile the bombs keep on ticking down, one slip up means disaster, and someone keeps hiding the wire cutters!
Bomb Squad #9 is a game of bluffing and deduction, set against the slow ticking of a time bomb. Players search for the bomb and the wire cutters amongst nine face down cards. Each card has a special ability: allowing a second card to be seen (wire cutters, sniffer dog, metal detector), mixing the cards around (anarchist, panic), or just reacting to other cards (bomb, rat, can). On their turn, a player secretly looks at a card and declares it to the others. If they are not accused of lying, or if accused and acquitted, they get to perform the declared action. Certain combinations make the bomb explode, and if not defused the bomb explodes after six turns regardless. Bomb Squad #9 was derived as a combination and miniaturisation of Lost Legacy and Memory, but with a metal detector that actually beeps!
