18xx Checkers
Description
18xx Checkers is a simplified Print and Play version of Tresham's 1829 Mainline designed to use common gaming material that most people own. One or two players will buy shares in four different Railroad Companies, lay track and operate trains to collect revenue.
The playing surface is a standard checkers board and standard playing cards are used to represent share certificates. Other common gaming devices needed are checkers, a couple of 6 sided dice and play money.
The game itself includes rules, a one page Share Price Index/Player Aid, and a single page of custom square Track and Train tiles.
18xx Checkers has been described as "a really accessible introduction to 18xx but also a very interesting game on its own"
18xx Checkers is different from most 18xx genre games in that it uses square tiles, the game board is randomly generated, and like 1829 Mainline, available shares are drawn from a shuffled deck. Thus no two games are the same.
